About me

My name is Luís (pronounced Loo-eesh, he/him).

I'm a trainee therapist, completing a Diploma and a Masters programme in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Minster Centre in London (see qualifications below). I work relationally, and I invite you to bring all parts of ourselves to therapy. Then, with empathy and care, we can make space to understand what's hurting or not working, while also paying attention to what feels good and is working.

I have worked with and within LGBTQIA+ and indigenous communities, and I am a white European, cis man. These experiences are part of my own story, and support how I work, including with those from other identities and backgrounds.

Languages

I've lived in four countries across three continents and speak four languages confidently. I can work with you in English or Portuguese (all variants), and if you'd like to bring Spanish or te reo Māori into our sessions, you're very welcome to. I also understand some French and Italian.

Past experience

Before training and finding 'a home' in therapy, I spent 30 years in senior roles across charities, industry, government and academia. This history has deepened my understanding of work pressures, life changes, my cultural awareness and ability to listen closely to people from different backgrounds.

I'm attentive to difference, and the relational, environmental and spiritual complexities of living in this world. If you're feeling hesitant about starting therapy, that's completely normal. I'd love to hear from you, at your own pace.

Qualifications & Memberships

I am completing a Level 7 (post-graduate level) BACP Accredited Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and a Master's degree, both at the Minster Centre, one of Europe's leading institutions in integrative counselling and psychotherapy training. They have issued me with an agreement to practice. For other qualifications see below.

I am a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework. I volunteer at two low-cost therapy services and I have volunteered for NHS Talking Therapies.

I am insured, and I am supervised by a highly experienced, UKCP-registered supervisor, in accordance with BACP and UKCP guidelines.
