How I might help

There isn't a set list of situations therapy can help with, but examples include:

When things feel heavy
Anxiety, overwhelm, low mood and depression – including when it's hard to understand what's underneath them.

When life shifts under you
Grief, loss and bereavement, illness and chronic illness, major life transitions, and the search for meaning that can follow.

When connection feels hard
Relationship difficulties, trauma, loneliness and isolation, and the ways past relationships continue to shape present ones.

When the world makes it harder to simply be who you are
Sexual and gender identity, race and cultural belonging, neurodivergence, and disability – including the toll of navigating a world not built with you in mind.

When it's hard to feel good-enough
Self-esteem, self-worth, and a search for meaning, purpose, relevance or direction.

My relational approach

I work as your partner and together we explore and understand with honesty, at your pace.

I draw from and integrate various psychotherapy traditions, paying attention to what feels most helpful in your case. The foundation is in experiencing what 'the world' is like for you and to accept you warmly and without judgement.

I base my integrative approach on relational psychotherapy, attachment theory, and body psychotherapy. They all acknowledge the potential healing power of human connection. They are based on the principle that our emotional struggles are not 'defects' but patterns formed through our past and present relationships with others, and that our body and mind are not separate.

I also hold in mind the wider social and political forces that shape us, and I'm committed to anti-oppressive practice, that is, noticing dynamics of power in the world, and between us in the room. Therefore, I am inclusive of LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, relationship-diverse, and other minoritised communities and people.

About therapy

What is therapy?

Therapy (including counselling, psychotherapy and psychoanalysis) is a confidential space to explore whatever's going on for you, even if you're not sure what that is. This isn't a space where I have the answers and you wait to receive them; we figure things out together, at your own pace.

How does it work?
We'll meet once a week for 50 minutes, either in person or online. I work only with adults and one-to-one.

Therapy aims to be an authentic relationship where you're received with genuine care. Together we pay attention to how things are for you: recurring patterns, emotions that take over or are absent, how you respond under pressure, or whatever else is present. We often make room for all parts of you, including the ones that haven't had space to be heard. The aim isn't to diagnose, but to understand – and as that understanding grows, new ways of relating to yourself and others tend to open up.

How long does therapy last?

Therapy can be short-term and goal-focused, or longer-term and more explorative. Committing to at least 12 sessions is helpful, though shorter runs are possible depending on your goals. Many people work in an open-ended way, with regular reviews to check how things are going and where to focus next.

Is therapy confidential?

Everything shared in therapy is confidential and handled in line with BACP ethical guidelines and professional standards. I attend the required regular clinical supervision; my supervisor is also bound by confidentiality.

There are a small number of situations where I may need to share some information, and we will discuss this when we meet. They include serious/urgent concerns about your safety or someone else's, or where the law requires it. Where possible, I'll always aim to discuss any information sharing with you first.
