Therapy

What is therapy?

Therapy is a confidential space to explore whatever's going on for you, even if you're not sure what that is. Whatever brings you here, there's no wrong way in. I work only one-to-one with adults.

This isn't a space where I have the answers and you wait to receive them; we figure things out together, at your own pace. Some sessions might feel like breakthroughs, others slower and less certain. You're not broken, and therapy isn't about fixing you; it's about making room for all parts of you, including the ones that haven't had space to be heard.

How does it work?
We'll meet once a week for 50 minutes, either in person in a private room or online from a private space of your own.

Therapy aims to be an authentic relationship where you're received with genuine care. Together, we pay attention to how things are for you: the intensity of certain experiences, patterns that repeat, emotions you may struggle to name, how you respond under pressure, how you connect with others, or whatever is present.

The aim is not to diagnose, but to understand you. Though we are guided by your goals there's no fixed destination. As awareness grows around what's been shaping your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, something often begins to shift, often because you've been understood. From there, new ways of relating to yourself, others and your life tend to open up.

How long does therapy go on for?

Therapy can be short-term and single goal focused or longer-term, also with goals but more explorative. Committing to at least 12 sessions is helpful and some people stay for longer, however, a shorter run of 6 to 12 is possible depending on the goals. Many people work in an open-ended way and we do regular reviews to check how things are, where to focus next or if we are approaching an end

If you have any questions or feel ready to start, I'd be glad to hear from you. We can have a free 15 min conversation.

Connection is the 'tool'

My approach

I draw from various psychotherapy traditions, paying attention to what feels most helpful in your case. The foundation is in experiencing how 'the world' is like for you and to accept you warmly and without judgement.

I draw heavily on relational psychotherapy and attachment theory, which both acknowledge the potential healing power of human connection. They are based on the principle that our emotional struggles are not "defects", but patterns formed through our past and present relationships with others. Rather than acting as an expert, I work as your partner on a shared journey, showing up with my own real emotional presence and vulnerability to explore and understand with honesty.
